All information on this page is based on pre-sales materials, architectural filings, and developer announcements. Ratings are preliminary and will be updated once the building opens and residents move in. Occupancy is expected in 2027.
135 S LaSalle Street β known historically as the Field Building β is a landmark 44-story Art Deco office tower built in 1934 that is being converted into 386 apartments as part of Chicago's LaSalle Street Reinvention initiative. The $241 million project is developed by Riverside Development and AmTrust RE, with architecture by Solomon Cordwell Buenz (SCB).
The conversion will transform 624,000 square feet of office space into residential units, with 92,000 square feet of retail and commercial space on the lower floors, including a planned grocery store. The project received $98 million in TIF financing from the City of Chicago and City Council approval in late 2025. Construction is underway with a target completion of 2027.
The LaSalle Street location is exceptional for transit β the LaSalle/Van Buren Brown/Orange/Pink/Purple Line stop is 0.1 miles away, and the building will have pedway access to the Loop's underground network. The Art Deco architecture means the building will have distinctive character that new construction cannot replicate β high ceilings, ornate lobbies, and the historic bones of one of Chicago's great office towers. We will publish full ratings once the building opens.
Loop workers, remote professionals, and urban enthusiasts who want to live in a historic landmark building in the heart of Chicago's financial district. The LaSalle Street address and Art Deco character will attract tenants who value architectural distinction.
135 S LaSalle sits in the heart of the Loop's financial district, on LaSalle Street between Madison and Monroe. The Pedway connects to dozens of buildings underground. Millennium Park, the Art Institute, and the Chicago Riverwalk are all within walking distance.
